The abbreviation ADSp stands for “German Freight Forwarders Standard Terms and Conditions 2017”. This is a recommendation for the general terms and conditions of freight forwarders. According to the recommendation character, the application in the transport industry is not mandatory. However, many transport companies use the ADSp 2017 as general terms and conditions.
The ADSp have been published since 1927. Until 2015, it was a joint recommendation of the German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (formerly: Federal Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics) and other central associations of the German economy (including DIHK, BDI). Since 2016, the ADSp have only been recommended by the German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association. The other associations have drawn up their own recommendation, the German Transport and Storage Conditions (DTLB). This divergence is due to the fact that the associations could not agree on adjustments that became necessary due to changes in German transport law in 2013.
The ADSp regulate the business relationships between freight forwarders and other companies. They do not apply in relation to consumers. Objectively, conditions relate to transport contracts that usually relate to transactions belonging to the forwarding trade.
